High Schools Suck at Getting Students College Success, Pt.3

When it comes to most significant financial events it’s common knowledge that the sooner someone prepares the better off they usually end up.

Think about things like: buying a house, planning for a wedding, going into retirement . . . paying for college.

But, most high schools embed the highly important college conversations and activities in the eleventh and twelfth grades.

This is much too late.

College Prep Timeline is Wrong

And this is the second major reason why high schools suck at getting students college success — the college prep timeline starts too late.

For a student who desires to go college immediately following high school, everything from their grades, out-of-school activities, and part-time jobs contributes to their college and scholarship applications.

And these things should be carefully considered from 9th grade onward.

Without overwhelming or burdening children they need guidance on what types of colleges might be most suitable for them, how much it costs to attend their ideal schools and how they can better position themselves for admission.
